One of the fastest growing markets, in these days when everyone wants to be connected to the internet at all times, is that for palmtop computers. Whilst the distinction between some cell phones and palmtop computers is becoming rather blurred having a small computer palmtop style still gives you more computing power compared to a cell phone that has some of the features of a palmtop computer incorporated into it. Today there are many and varied uses for palmtop computers.
Having a good palmtop computer is like having your own small laptop with you. Today most palmtop computers are wifi enabled meaning that you’ve got constantly roving access to the internet whether you’re in an office or home environment, or travelling and staying anywhere in the world. The two major advantages over a full blown laptop or a cell phone that has some laptop computer functions is quite simply its size. Despite the cell phone companies trying to persuade you otherwise, a cell phone screen simply isn’t big enough for all but the shortest of times for accessing the internet or reading email, let alone composing documents or files. Yet, unlike a full size laptop a palmtop computer is small and light enough to carry anywhere, has a screen size that can be used effectively and will have all the software applications necessary to carry on your work wherever you are.
The software bundle in your palmtop computer will, of course, be determined by the operating system it uses. The actual palmtop computers use the proprietary Palm OS, whereas many others often referred to as handheld computers or Pocket PC, will use Microsoft’s Windows CE operating system. Whichever type of palmtop computer you opt for you’ll find applications that are interchangeable with whatever systems you use on bigger laptops or desktops. Generally speaking a palmtop computer system and its software is manipulated by using a scribe or pointing tool. There are many add-on devices available for palmtop computers such as magnifying screens and even collapsible keyboards.
